Co-creator and Executive Producer

Tyson is a Vancouver-based Director and Producer who produces powerful unscripted Reality and Documentary Series that have caught the attention of audiences from around the world. Tyson’s projects have been broadcasted by major networks such as Discovery Channel Canada, History Channel Canada, Crave, Netflix, HGTV, CBC, Cottage Life Network, Amazon Prime, Animal Planet US and Apple T.V.

Tyson began his career selling projects to established prod co’s, starting off with ‘PYROS’, and then ‘JACKED’. He then partnered with Oscar Award winning producer David Paperny, and achieved his first global success with the hit series ‘Cold Water Cowboys’. Tyson then co-founded Mayhem Entertainment and subsequently created the global hit Rust Valley Restorers. Mayhem Entertainment was awarded Best Series and Best Direction by Canada’s Leo Awards for Rust Valley Restorers in 2020 and 2022. Tyson is a passionate storyteller who can work with a range of personalities and thrives in challenging environments. In 2021, Tyson stepped out on his own to begin ‘Tyson Media Productions’ which is now producing its 2nd season of ‘Pets & Pickers’ for Crave and Animal Planet US.

Maddy Cristall

Casting / Research, Tyson Media

Maddy specializes in music, film and television. She has extensive experience writing for renowned organizations such as CBC, Disney +, Beatroute, Network Entertainment.

Maddy is also the founder and Editor in Chief of music publication and full-service publicity firm- Citrus Magazine and Pulp Publicity. Maddy specializes in developing unscripted documentary series, script, biographies and grant writing. She also works behind the scenes on widely celebrated productions as a script supervisor for CBC Gem, Knowledge Network and Crave. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of British Columbia.

Maddy has an affinity for amplifying innovative people and stories through writing. She is dedicated to celebrating interesting stories, unique artists and the inspiring underdogs. She is endlessly committed to refining her skills, expanding her expertise and sharing her ideas with the world at large.

Laura Wheeler

Legal and Business Affairs, Tyson Media

Laura Wheeler is a senior-level Business Affairs Executive with over 20 years of experience in television, film and digital media, working with independent Canadian production companies, U.S studios and international partners. Laura has been responsible for the business affairs at every stage of a project, from acquisitions to development and from production to post-production on hundreds of hours of scripted, unscripted series, documentaries and animated programs.

Laura is experienced in all matters relating to broadcasters, distributors, funders, talent, tax credit agencies, labour unions (US and Canada), legal, contracts, marketing and publicity.

Alex McFetridge

Development Producer, Tyson Media

Alex is the newest addition to our Tyson Media Development team, joining in early 2022, and works alongside our Executive Producer and our Head of Development to help the research and creation of future projects.

Alex got his start in the music industry, where he worked as a photographer/videographer with Canadian acts, while also having snapped photos of household names such as Travis $cott, A$AP Rocky, Kanye West and others.

In 2020, with the cancellation of all concerts for the foreseeable future, Alex made the transition to television, starting in animation production, working on shows such as 16 Hudson. Since then, Alex has moved to unscripted television, where he strives to uncover some of the many great untold stories, as well as the characters who can share these stories.

Jen McAuley

Head of Production, Tyson Media

Jennifer has over 30 years experience working in factual and documentary programming. She has worked in all aspects of production from showrunning to directing to writing, as well as on the broadcast side as a Production Executive
with TVO and CBC. With hundreds of hours of programming under her belt, she has produced for a variety of North American networks with shows such as Restoration Garage (MotorTrend, Velocity), My Worst Nightmare (T&E), Celebrity Damage Control (Reelz TV), Best Evidence (Discovery), Superhumans (TLC), and Room to Grow (Global TV).

Jennifer has written for How the World Ends (Discovery), Boogeymen (Travel), and Stranger in the House (ID), as well as children’s factual series CG Kids (TVO, APTN, Discovery Kids) and multi-award-winning Zoboomafoo (PBS,TVO, CBC) and Kratts’ Creatures (PBS, TVO).

Working as a development producer with a variety of companies such as CMJ Productions, Pixcom, ComediHa!, and DATSIT Studios International in Montreal, and Cream Productions, AJE Productions, Ellis Entertainment and Summerhill
Entertainment in Toronto, Jennifer has helped greenlight and acquire development funding for numerous series. She created and went on to produce Million Dollar Genius (History Channel), and CG Kids (TVO, APTN, Discovery Kids), which she produced for three seasons.

Jennifer first joined the Tyson Media team as content producer on Pets & Pickers (Animal Planet).

Thofiq

Assistant Editor, Tyson Media

Thofiq has a diverse background in media production and psychology. He holds an Associates degree in Psychology from Capilano University, as well as diplomas in New Media Design and Web Development, and Television and Video Production from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, where he graduated with distinction in 2022. Thofiq’s achievements include serving as Editor and Writer for the student short film “Garbage Man” and directing the live dance show “Art in Motion” with Harbour Dance Centre. Thofiq is excited to be working on the Pets and Pickers series by Tyson Media as an Assistant Editor. Thofiq’s personal and professional philosophy is centered around kindness and hard work, believing that everything will work out with determination and perseverance.

James Powell

Development Assistant, Tyson Media

James is a screenwriter based out of Vancouver. He has done punch ups and polishes on movies and television shows, namely on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (Nickelodeon, Point Grey Pictures, Paramount).

Outside of writing, he’s worked as a production assistant on the feature documentary Sidney (AppleTV+) and two docuseries Women Who Rock (Epix) and Legends of Hockey, Greatness Calling: 2000-2020 (TSN).

Kelly McClaughan

Production / Development, Tyson Media

Creative versatility, curiosity and a passion for factual storytelling mark Kelly’s approach to her work. A showrunner, producer, director and writer, she has produced thousands of hours of factual television for Canadian, US and international markets, including ground breaking documentaries MAiD in Canada and The Psychedelic Frontier (VeraCity/Apple TV), Highway Thru Hell, Dangerous Flights, Jetstream (Discovery Canada), High Arctic Haulers (CBC), Game of Homes (Corus), Queen of the Oil Patch (APTN) and programming for National Geographic and Curiosity Stream. She brings an extensive background in journalism and is often consulted to help develop and shape projects.
